I connected this unit to my computer by USB for the first time after installing the dedicated driver software but it did not become ready for use with the computer.

Disconnect and then reconnect the USB cable or try using a different USB port.
If the problem is still not resolved, disconnect the USB cable and then reinstall the driver software.
