Can I choose to not output the microphone sound via the [BOOTH] output?

Yes. You can do this by selecting [Off] for [Mic Output to Booth] in the Utility menu. For details, see [Changing the settings from the UTILITY screen] and [Mixer] in the [Utility menu] in the Instruction Manual, which is available [here].
