Audio distortion, glitches, clicks, dropouts or noise
Please check the following items:
1. Is your computer spec above the minimum requirements for the DJ software?
2. Are the knobs and sliders for volume level appropriately adjusted?
3. Is the buffer size appropriately adjusted?
The latency (the time from which the DDJ-SX is operated until the sound is output) can be shortened by lowering the buffer size setting.
If there are interruptions in the sound, increase the buffer size, but note that this makes the latency longer.
Set the buffer size to the minimum value at which no interruptions in the sound occur.
For those using Mac OS:
The buffer size can be adjusted in the Serato DJ setup.
For those using Windows:
In the same way as at the buffer size setting in the Serato DJ setup, the buffer size can also be set by setting the kernel buffer number in the DDJ_SX ASIO settings utility.
Use the procedure below to set the buffer size to the minimum value at which no interruptions in the sound occur.
Check that no interruptions in the sound occur with the Serato DJ’s default setting (buffer size: 512 samples).
[If no interruptions in the sound occur with the default setting]
1. Set [USB BUFFER SIZE (LATENCY)] in the Serato DJ software to the minimum buffer size at which no interruptions in the sound occur.
2. Launch [DDJ_SX ASIO Settings Utility], change [Kernel Buffers] to [2], and check that no interruptions in the sound occur.
3. If no breaks in the sound occur, set [USB BUFFER SIZE (LATENCY)] in the Serato DJ software to the minimum buffer size at which no interruptions in the sound occur. If interruptions in the sound do occur, change [Kernel Buffers] in the [DDJ_SX ASIO Settings Utility] to [3].
[If interruptions in the sound occur with the default setting]
1. Launch [DDJ_SX ASIO Settings Utility] and change [Kernel Buffers] to [4].
2. Set [USB BUFFER SIZE (LATENCY)] in the Serato DJ software to the minimum buffer size at which no interrruptions in the sound occur.
4. Are the input levels of MIC and other connected devices appropriate?
Is the DDJ-SX unit connected to any device with high output level such as a wireless microphone?
If the output level switch or gain adjustment is equipped with the wireless microphone or other devices, please lower the signal level to the mic input of this unit.
For further details, please refer to the instruction manuals of such devices.
The standard input level/ input impedance of the mic input of DDJ-SX is -52dBu/10kΩ.
5. Isn't the Master Tempo turned on?
When the Master Tempo is turned on, sound quality sometimes changes depending on tracks you play due to the key control process for keeping the same key. This is not a defect but a normal process which is unavoidable.
6. Don't you use a USB hub?
Please do not use a USB hub. Please connect DDJ-SX directly to your computer's USB terminal.
7. Don't you have other applications run background?
Please close all the applications including a screen saver and resident software.
(Please ensure the internet access is cut off to secure your computer before closing the virus security software.)
8. Is the USB cable correctly connected?
Please connect your computer to DDJ-SX using the included USB cable.
9. Is your computer on power saving mode?
Please cancel the power saving mode of your computer.
10. Does your computer have Blue Tooth or other wireless connection?
Please turn off Blue Tooth or other wireless connections.
11. Aren't any other USB devices than DDJ-SX connected to your computer?
Please disconnect all the USB devices including external hard discs and key boards from your computer depending on your computer models. Then, check how it works.
12. When your computer has multiple USB ports, please try using another port to check how it works.
