There are two possible causes.

1. Is the MIDI sequencer’s sync mode set to Slave? Set the MIDI sequencer’s sync mode to Slave.

2. Does your MIDI sequencer support MIDI timing clocks? Synchronizing is not possible if the MIDI sequencer does not support MIDI timing clocks.
